CSDS Technique Notes

 

 

 

 

If the tooth is vital and there is no                             Any obvious debris is removed with a                  CSDS silver fluoride (AgF) applied by microbrush

After the tooth has been kept wet with silver fluoride for the prescribed time CSDS
10% stannous fluoride is applied a reducing agent turning the surface of the carious
lesion black
The treated site is temporarily covered with Orabase Protective Paste
(Convatec)
Ideally a week later the
surface of the lesion is re-examined to see if the entire surface has a
black matte. If not the non-pigmented
area is inspected to ensure there is no
pulp exposure. If it isn’t re-apply; following the same procedure listed above
